About Me

My name is Tobias Hochreutener. I was born in Switzerland in 1979. At the age of 10 I began to competitively sail in Optimist dinghies, later on moving into 420's, Toppers and Lasers. In 1994 I relocated with my family to England where I obtained my GCSE's and later graduated from Falmouth Marine school in 1998 with a diploma in Naval Architecture. During my time in Falmouth I was given the opportunity to start to race in bigger boats and racing yachts.

My professional career started in 1998 when I met Sir Peter Blake, who employed me to deliver his private 70 ft yacht "Archangel" from Tahiti to Auckland. Subsequently Sir Peter offered me a position as a member of the shore team of New Zealand's Americas Cup 2000 campaign which I gladly accepted.

Early 2002 I obtained my commercially endorsed yacht master ocean license.

Up to date I have logged over 70,000 ocean miles.
