FAQ

How much will your campaign cost?

Experience of previous competitors shows that to run a viable and safe campaign funds of ca. US$ / EUR 80'000 are needed.

Where will you be based?

There are two centres where many Mini-Transat sailors base themselves. One is on the South Coast of the UK, the other is in Normandy. I will be deciding later where I will base myself.

How will you be able to support yourself?

I am currently employed on a professionally run yacht but will have to stop working there full time later this year to pursue my campaign. A part of the campaign budget will be used to finance my living expenses.

What do I get for my money?

A sponsor is entitled to advertising space on the sails and the hull. Sponsoring a Mini-Transat is a very cost effective way to ensure a high degree of media coverage. An added advantage is that I will be one of the youngest sailors on the start line which will certainly attract additional attention.

Be part of a first class, clean and environmentally friendly sports event.

Help a young, ambitious and determined yachtsman make a dream come true.

Is it safe?

The Mini-Transat has very strict rules to ensure the safety of the boats and competitors. There is a waypoint near the Cape Verdi Islands were boats have to pass. This will give the competitors the opportunity to stop and to repair their boats if necessary. It is compulsory for boat to carry EPIRB's (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) which in case of an emergency transmit an exact position signal to rescue services, other ships, aircrafts, etc..

Why do you want to do this?

Competing in this race is a natural step to further me career as a professional yachtsman. Also, there is no other event were over 60 boats compete at such a high, challenging level of long distance ocean racing.
